One of the largest history museums in the nation, the Atlanta History Center is an incredible place to soak up knowledge about the region's fascinating past. Its numerous sites and exhibits go from the area's earliest settlers up to the present day, and are laid out in an accessible, thoughtful way.
The center's 33 acres hold several museums, including the Atlanta History Museum, Centennial Olympics Museum, and a number of historic homes. Six historic gardens are here, too, each highlighting a different group of people's unique relationship with the Georgia land. Also, the calendar regularly features travelling and temporary exhibits as well as lectures from award winning authors. Since there's such an abundance of both indoor and outdoor sights, the center is great to visit year round, no matter what the weather is like.
With such a remarkable number amount on display, the Atlanta History Center is definitely worth a visit.
