CineBistro: A Unique Atlanta Movie Theater

March 4, 2015 5:03 pm

As it becomes easier and easier to watch movies at home, cinema owners are exploring new alternatives to get customers in the door. One of the coolest is the concept of full-service movie watching, where the traditional popcorn and soda is supplemented by restaurant dining and adult beverages. CineBistro is a chain that has won a faithful following with quality and service.

When you step into this Atlanta movie theater, you’ll immediately notice that things are a little different. Seats are arranged around tables facing the screen, and they’re plush recliners, not stadium chairs. Waitresses come and take orders before the show starts, delivering full meals as well as beer, wine and cocktails. The food is exceptional, with regulars recommending the country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and spinach. Programming is first-run Hollywood blockbusters along with some artsier picks. Make sure to get your tickets – and seats – in advance!

Four Surprising Facts About Sugar Consumption

February 26, 2015 6:02 pm

Managing your sugar intake is important for all people, no matter how physically fit you are. Unfortunately, most Americans consume far too much sugar. These fascinating facts about sugar consumption will change the way you look at sweets forever.

  1. The average American consumes about 22 teaspoons of sugar each day, which is far beyond the recommended daily amount. The average American child consumes even more than that, totaling over 30 teaspoons in just one day.
  2. There is no set daily recommendation for sugar intake, and the number is often controversial. Some sources say that your sugar intake should not make up more than 10% of your daily calories, while others say that 25% of your daily calories is safe.
  3. Consuming too much refined sugar impacts the body in a number of negative ways, and these extend far beyond just weight gain. Refined sugar is also linked to insomnia, hair loss, tooth decay, and colon cancer, among other things.
  4. Carbonated soft drinks are the largest sources of refined sugar in the American diet. Just one 64 ounce soda packs a whopping 53 teaspoons of sugar, which far exceeds your daily limit. In fact, it’s more than the average person should consume in one week. Replace that soda with a glass of water instead!
